A Recurring Deposit (RD) is a popular investment instrument offered by banks and post offices that allows individuals to save a fixed amount every month and earn interest at a rate similar to fixed deposits. It is particularly suited for salaried persons or small savers who want to build a corpus over time without a large initial investment. When you open an RD account, you agree to deposit a fixed sum every month for a predetermined period (usually 6 months to 10 years). Where R is the monthly installment, i is the interest rate per quarter, and n is the number of quarters.
